Sak - Off the Beaten Path

So I'm off work next Thu & Fri...thought Thursday morning might be a good time for me to try fishing an area of Sakakawea that I don't typically target. First half of the year I fish west end (New Town to White Earth Bay/Van Hook/Parshall). Mid summer spend more time on the east end. Have only...

2019 Boat Fishing Season Over or Not?

So who has winterized and put the boat to bed till spring? I'm holding out hope for maybe a week of more seasonal temps later in the month. Hope to get out a few more times for some shallow water jigging before the boat gets put to bed.

    Transom Saver

My new Lund has the conventional transom saver that attaches to the boat trailer then the lower unit sits snug in the V. Wondering tho if this type of transom saver is more effective/less harmful over the life of the boat than say using a MyWedge type saver on the hydraulic rod? Have seen quite...

New Motor - Break In Service

The new Lund has the Mercury 150 Pro XS 4 stroke on it. I've followed the manual with regards to cycling thru the rpm range during the first 10 hours, but it does not state a "break in" service is required at 10 or 20 hours? I've read a few different forums regarding this topic...some folks say...

    This Weekend

Anyone planning to hit the water today, tomorrow, or Sunday? I'm gonna run down to Audubon this afternoon...target main lake/embankment side...focus on shallow humps. Power Loading - Bunk Trailer

Just wondered how many of you power load your boat vs. just pulling it on the bunks with dock line far enough to hook the winch line to the bow eye hook? Upgraded this year to a 19ft Lund that is 3 feet longer and 800 pounds heavier than the old boat. When fishing by myself with the old boat...

Buy New Boat out of State - Pay Sales Tax?

How does this work if a guy purchases a new boat from a dealer in say MN, does he pay MN sales tax, North Dakota sales tax, or none? Since ND does not require boats to be registered thru the NDDOT to display a tag, does G&F get involved with collecting sales tax when you register the new boat?

    G3 Angler Boats

Done some research on the deep V G3 boats, went thru the 19ft Angler at the boat show Saturday...talked to the Yamaha factory rep. The boat is set up similar to the Lund Impact, similar price point as well. I like the fact that you can get the 19 foot boat with the Yamaha VF175 on it...that's...

    February Cold

In Minot, we had one day this month that got above 30 degrees...on 1 Feb. The next warmest day was this past Saturday...temp reached 17. Temp projections for early March not much better. Guessing just like last year, we'll be ice fishing into late April...depending on which part of the state you...

Shappell Flip Over - Lost Brace Bar

Yesterday I discovered that I lost the back brace bar for my Shappell FX150 flip over. Went to Shappell's website...they are out of stock on those replacement bars right now. Anyone know where a guy can find Shappell ice house parts? Oh...if anyone finds a 52inch aluminum brace bar at the Turtle...

Sad - It's Almost That Time of Year

According to the extended forecast, it's that sad time of the year...when the open water season is ending and it will be weeks before we can safely drill holes in the ice...hate this time of year! Plus I don't hunt to pass this in between time!

Open Water Season - Wrapping Up Quick

The end of the open water season is quickly approaching...based on what we've gotten so far this fall from mother nature. I'm hoping we'll have fishable open water on the bigger lakes until Thanksgiving...but I'm not real confident. That being said...who is taking the boat out this weekend...

    Lake Turnover - When

The next week forecast lows vary from 29 to 38. So with those temps at night, when will the lakes turn over where the cold surface water starts dropping? In other words...how much longer before the fish start creeping up into the shallows to "warm" up? Surface temps on Audubon yesterday still...
