Not a bad group, this was at 100y with a 1x scope, barnes 275gr bullet... Now I need to figure out where to hunt! Got my first ML tag ever this year. ML holes are 2 centered in the picture, others are 308 rifle I was shooting... At first I was disappointed cuz I thought I missed the target with the 2nd shot, guess not!

One thing about the one X scope, with mine I can see the end of my rifle barrel. Just strange.

I personally prefer good fiber optic open sights to 1x scopes as they are usually garbage in low light.

I've had a T/C Encore for many years now and really like it. Unfortunately i haven't gone black powder hunting in 5 years or so, ever since the group i hunted with gradually fell apart.

I was thinking about heading out to the badlands and trying to find a nice whitey on public land out there. Any tips where to start looking? Im guessing remote = higher chances of finding a trophy...

Whitetails in the Badlands can be a bit of a tall order.... They are there, there's just not a lot of them...

I don't know if it's optical illusion or what, but I would swear my 1X scope is about 3/4 power. Deer look smaller through it than naked eye. Still I will stick with it. Good fiber optics came with the rifle, but the first nice buck that showed up 20 minutes before sunrise the darn sight was so bright it blotted him out. I could not get a shot that I was confident of at 90 yards that morning. I suppose a smaller fiber optic would have been ok.

I noticed the same thing with 1x scopes, every thing looks further away, but my old eyes can't handle open sights anymore.

I feel the same way about the 1x scope. Almost makes it look further. The fiber optic sights are too big on my cheap CVA, but just right on my TC Bone Collector.

I use a red dot scope. Works well as long as you remember to turn it off when you go home.
