How many of you seen the movie?

How many of you talk to your dogs the way they do in the movie?

How many of you think or know your dog understands you like Buck did?

I’m pretty sure my dog is smarter than me, he just doesn’t have fingers to build things.

Dogs are able to understand humans even without words when they're with their owner long enough and have had a long learning curve in a constant training environment (I'm in a constant training mode with my dog for 9yrs now).

When I'm out in the field I only need to point my finger/hand to the right or left and my dog will go in those directions without any vocal commands. He and I are out there as a "unit" and he knows what I'm expecting. The struggles in the first 18mo of a pup's life is a YUUUGE payoff in the long run.

I thought the movie was great. I don't recall talking to a dog in-depth like that, but then again I've never been that isolated. I could see it.

Heck, some have whole dialogues with volleyballs, so...

Dogs are all different just like humans. I've had some that were smarter then me, some that seemed almost human like and some that were dumb as a brick. My current lab mix is either dumb as a brick, a masochist that likes to be disciplined or just loves to push my buttons.

Royce is very responsive to visual cues. It's like he's deaf with verbal commands - he just gives you a blank stare... until you give him a visual - then he's practically human.

It's then that you realize he's staring at you because he's waiting for you to "speak" in his visual language... you dolt.

Pup listens better than my kids ever did. Better with hand signals too.

I had one that was human-like. My current one is special needs human-like. He licks windows and should probably be wearing a helmet.

If Tom Hanks did it with a volleyball I could see myself doing it with a dog. :)
