Looking for opinions on these two augers. I've never used the strikemaster, but was quite impressed with a buddy's ION X. There are three different versions of the ION (g1, g2, and r1). Are there any significant differences between these other than the battery?

If you get a chance to try the strikemaster you'll forget about the ion in a hurry.

Was at scheels and picked up the 24v strikemaster. Wow is that light and the head is small. For those reasons I am thinking of going that route instead of the 40v. I rarely drill more than 15 holes in a day. Don't you think a guy could get by with the 24v?

Not good

When you use the SM, you’ll forget about a nude model standing in front of you because all you can think about is “why is this electric auger so heavy?”

I have the ion with reverse I won it 2 years ago. It drills 20 holes for me no problem and opens old holes up pretty good. It is light and I like that.

This will be used in the wheel house 90% of the time, so reopening old holes is very important.

I like the kdrill for use outside of the house, but it seems to throw ice everywhere inside the house.
