So I pulled one of my icegators gear boxes apart to clean all the old grease. I use quantum hot sauce grease just adding enough to the gear from the motor. Also bought some electronic contact cleaner for the electric switches to clean off the corrosion build up.
Does anyone else pull thier ice augers gear boxes apart to add fresh grease?

Kickem these electric augers are made with aluminum plastic parts, not sealed the best where dust snow moisture can get in. Aluminum is not the best material when it comes condensation then the aluminum gears collect dust turning into a black sticky residue that coats everything inside. The contacts on the switches are a brass copper plating which corrodes up the same way.
