This is crazy the amount of snow we got versus what they predicted...hope this is not an indication of what winter is going to be like. For the Valley City area they were predicting 3-5 inches. I have 11-12" in my yard right now, 12 miles SW of VC...yard is out of the wind and everything like that. Came home and my pickup was pushing bumper deep all through the yard. WOW is all I can say and it is still snowing. I remember last year when they would predict snowfall and they would say 8-12 inches and we would get 2-4...this year so far it is opposite. I hope this isn't a repeat of the start of the wet cycle again, guess it has been 10 years so it is about time.

Amazing to see the reports this morning on t.v. that there were 16" of snow dropped up by GFAFB?!?! Holy, it's only October. Does that put a stop on the beet harvest in the Red River Valley? I can say there will be lots of mud on the highways from trucks tracking it out as they head to beet pilers. Ugggh.

Got probably 2 inches in my yard in N. Fargay. Shittiest part is it's all frozen and crusty now. But it'll be 40s and 50s soon. Should melt.

Now for the love of God, no more rain until my leaves are up. This fall is dumb.

this will pack down the tall grass well enough (out in the VC area) so that maybe I can even get Royce out on a bird or two

That much wet heavy snow is hell on pheasants. I remember a few years ago when that freak blizzard hit SW the week before pheasant opener. All the cover was flat and there were dead pheasants everywhere. The ones that lived went into what was left of the standing corn/flowers. It was a major Bummer!

This wet weather is the worst case scenario for beet farmers. Hopefully they get some warm dry weather tomorrow finish up tre harvest. I know they like to shut down when it gets too cold or too wet but depending on the forecast they may need to get the beet harvested regardless.

I heard the roads down by Sidney and Fairview are very muddy so be careful if you are traveling down there.

This heavy shit (I mean snow) has turned any tall grass crp into tangle foot for hunters and no real cover for birds.

Just got done walking dog. Snow/ice crunchy as hell. Be tough bird hunting if it doesn't melt.
