Hi my name is Jiffy. I like Savage rifles, bouncing 243 bullets off of deer, and fishing Goose Lake.

If you are having issues with the .243 try a .338 Lapua that’s what I use for deer. Nice clean pass throughs.

Speaking of 243's bouncing off deer.....this one failed me. Cousin's kiddo whacked this one this fall. Pretty sure I lost this rifle for good. I'm ok with this, she was super pumped!! Maybe I'll ask her if I can use it come November.

If you do buy a .338 Lapua for a youth hunt I suggest using managed recoil rounds.

Yep, although I haven't raced for a few years now. Still putting on about 20-25 miles a week, about half of what I was doing when I was racing.

Whats with the blue tape on the barrel? I can understand something to protect the muzzle but why the wrap in the middle?

The blue color comes from a thread on 24hr campfire about 10yrs ago when some dolt proclaimed that you shouldn't use blue colored anything because it is the one color deer (game animals) etc could see. It became a rather ugly dog-pile type thread with dozens of guys pictured with deer, antelope, elk, caribou, moose, bears, etc in blue jeans, blue shirts/jackets/hats, etc, etc, etc.

The tape is prudent planning, the 2nd wrap is just extra should it be needed, and now you know why it's blue.

Lincoln, kinda...
Never knew where the blue tape came from, I generally grab the red or yellow stuff but may have to switch now for the challenge.

I wonder what our next home will be called? :;:duel
