Fished wed and thur at rainy river this week. The shiner run is in full swing rite now. Caught 150 walleye over 2 days. couple of the bigger ones were 6 26" 3 27's 2 28's and the wife caught the biggest of the trip at 12.6 lbs 29". What a fun 2 days of fishing. All the big fish went back in the water after a quick picture, did keep a 2 man limit of eater size. Can't wait for the spring run as it's always a good time on the rainy. 32045.jpg31924.jpg31916.jpg31889.jpg31887.jpg20181025_173039.jpg32125.jpg

That's way better than we did on the Red By Selkirk over the weekend. Fishing was slow on 20+ inch fish. Worst I have seen it in 6 years.

The first day we fished on wed the action was pretty steady and caught over 100 walleye. Fished from 11 to 6. Thursday we had 51 and fished from noon to 6. Used a clicker every time a fish went in the boat. If we clicked every time we had a bite or lost a fish on the way to the boat the total would have been closer to 200 for a 2 day total. Had a few doubles. Didn't see anyone catch sturgeon.

Was fishing the rainy Sunday Monday and tue and yesterday. Pretty slow Monday, tue was pretty good and yesterday not bad.... anyone planning on going this weekend the little fork blew yesterday and driving over the big fork bridge it's about 100 yds away from blowing out into the rainy.. so not worth going up this weekend if anyone wondering, caught allot of nice walleye this week though, here is some pics. 50266.jpg20190409_161658.jpg20190409_142546.jpg20190409_084121.jpg20190410_184439.jpg

We were up there last thurs-sun, and caught lots of big fish. Water was still pretty cold, jig bite was slow. We were pulling cranks and boated 20 fish over 25". It was an absolute blast. Wanted to go up for Saturday again, but I fished once with the river full of shit and it wasn't worth it so might go spend the time scouting out Channel A.

Wow. Congrats on a great trip.

So how do you keep tabs on when the river has decent water clarity? From everything I've heard, once those smaller rivers start dumping in, it gets super dirty and isn't worth a crap for fishing. Sounds like you have to be ready to drop everything and GO when conditions are right.

No really though. How do you guys know when to go? I suppose there's a MN forum or two that guys are giving updates on river conditions? Either that or you'd need to know someone who lives there.

Checking the big fork and little fork water levels is a must, keep a close eye on that. Another thing I have is a friend that stays at the rainy and fishes everyday for 20 days straight. So between the 2 I got it covered. Not once do I check other forums for reports, just dutchman's fb page for ther latest report on how far the open has made it
