I would stay close to the mouth for the morning. By late morning, you can try to do some exploring.

pretty quiet from the big windy for this time of year. anyone been up there lately? I leave Wednesday and fish until Monday the 11th. I will report once I get back but thought I would see how the access is and ridges ect... not looking for coordinates or anything, just wondering if people are finding them and how the travel is.

thanks.

We'll be headed up Wednesday as well. Accessing via Warner Rd. It's been a super tough bite this year. The weather for the upcoming weekend looks promising, however. Mr. Vollmer was just up there. Been waiting on his report.

buddy of mine was up there this past weekend and he said it was tough. biggest was 26.5. they just couldn't find them. fished 5ft to 18ft and put on 70 miles on the side by side. they fished both the west and east side of the mouth. with the weather they are predicting I would think finding the fish may be an easier time then what they had this past weekend. hope it holds true.

I just got back a week ago, As others have said its been slow this year. We accessed at Warner rd, other than a small ridge right out from the access, there really aren't any issues, although i would recommend tracks. The weather was perfect for us for two days and we still weren't able to find anything consistent, the third day we just had to set up a house because of conditions.

We were in communication with some guys who were with guides throughout the weekend and they weren't doing good either, there just doesn't seem to be a lot of fish in the south basin. Not sure ill go back next year unless i hear good reports in March this year or early next year, unfortunately I think the fishery is nearing the end of its heyday.

Snootie cranks and big spoons worked best for us. The few bigger fish we did catch generally came right in and hit aggressively. We caught a 28" & 29" but other than that it was pretty pitiful, I personally could have done better spending three days on Oahe.

We were up there and fished Thursday-Saturday. I'll get some pics up tonight. It was definitely a tough bite. Nothing like last year. We ended up with a 10 lb 28", and a 30" that we did not weigh, but I would guess it was 10.5-11 lbs. A handful of 28's and 27's, and 26's. Handful's of keepers each day.

Snooty was best the first day, Firetiger the next day, and DM's Hot Pink rap the third day.

I'll get some pics up tonight.

I saw a few reports the last couple days saying atv's were getting around decent because the snow is hard right now. This weekends warmer temps would change that drastically I would think. I'm heading up friday morning. Tracks for this guy!

We leave Wednesday also. Heard from a group that just got back and said their best day was Wednesday and the other few days they caught a handful of keepers. They thought maybe the fish were holding out a bit deeper. Any of you guys going up heard of a depth that would be a good starting point?

Just got back, fishing was slow. We fished from 8 feet to 20 feet with the deeper being best. Used side by sides with wheels and its rough but was fine. Snow was HARD!! There are actually pickups traveling all the way to the mouth. We accessed off Warner Road. Nothing up there for pressure ridges this year.

FYI... there is a large derby this weekend on the 9th out of Warner rd. Will be 1000 cars parked there.

This winter has been cold. Fish are still in a deep mid winter pattern. Will be a late March madness, the bulk after the season closure I think. We’re still -20’s here, should be -5.

Heard about this. How early does one have to be to avoid the traffic?

I have buddies that live right beside it like others have said bite has sucked. Give it a week of stable weather and things could get good. Heck they said last month sucked, 3 of us went up anyways and had 9 masters in 3 days. Can't complain about that. Good luck guys!

Been up there before when that tournament was going on and we didn't notice any extra traffic as we were on the ice before they started and most were gone before we came off. They plowed an area for that a little north off warner that year.

Went up to Steinbach MB Saturday morning to watch hockey. Came back across at Pembina yesterday at 10:30 AM. Wished I would of had the $'s in my hand from the 12 to 15 pickups pulling trailers with SxS with tracks\wheels, snow bears and sleds on them that were waiting in line to get thru. Took us around 45 mineuts to get thru the border. ;:;banghead
