Thanks HUNTFISHND. I will take a look at those!

As far as vax goes if I need one to get in not a huge deal to me. I just wanna catch some greenbacks :)

I just need to start buying gear before the shops start to run out.

I am looking at late Feb/March. I do not have sleds, do you all think renting a Snobear would be the right path?

Anyone planning on heading to Big Windy this winter. I am planning my first trip up and looking for any gear rec's. rods, baits, places to stay etc.

The JT Rod that DirtyMike mentioned sounds fantastic if it is better than TUCR and Thorne.

The black Reign in either size is fantastic for up on big windy. I prefer my 38's so i can stand or lean out of the vehicle.

Why the hell patronize Canada with their vaccine mandates. That’s like fishing the damn prairie knights casino.

I'll probably go up if I don't hear terrible stories of guys trying to go. I already got the jab and the Covid so whatever. It could be good since they haven't been molested for a while.

Sounds like in the last few years the large crankbait bite has slowed and now its more of a smaller crank and big spoon bite?

I send a lot of number 5 and 6 rippin raps, tn50, 1/4 oz live target. Well I did before the border garbage.

Unless I am already jabbed up because of mandates and whatnot, i will not be getting the jab to catch a fish. I do have one on the wall from up there, beautiful SOB that is for sure.

Best colors in the rippin raps or TN50s?

Dirty Mike's custom painted "snooty" color is always a go to. I feel like I normally have a big rippin rap in that color and then something smaller in blue/silver tied on. If fish don't seem interested in those I just start cycling through colors and baits. Did well on the Kamooki smartfish a couple years ago, but I did seem to loose more fish on it as well, and I did add the second hook.

I used the smaller one just specifically to have a smaller profile bait. I saw plenty of the big ones tied onto rods as well, I haven’t used them though.

Have 2 rods ready at all times, one with a rattle horizontal type bait and one with a vertical spoon type bait. Iffn you mark something that doesn't hit one, drop the other down in it's face, most likely will bite. If you find a school of active fish, it really doesn't seem to matter what size/color/type bait. I've got a couple of the 38'' TUCR commanders that I like, also have a couple of the precision power that are a little shorter. The 36-38' rods are great if you're outside, sometimes a little shorter is better if you are in a flip over or pop up.

Those Kamookis look odd but have some interesting colors and action. Never used them before personally but hear good things if you dont lose the fish haha
