Regardless of your decision, thank you for not starting a Go Fund Me page like everyone else seems to do for everything these days.

I have a lab that just had her second TTA. This is the newest of the surgeries and is not done much in the US, usually they do the cap or TPLO. So Dr. Thrush in Brandon did both of my girls, and I would not have anyone else do it.
As I read the post, it is so good to hear others are like me that my dog is the family as well. Certainly am not rich, but priceless to see a dog pain free and running like the wind again. If anyone wants more info on the TTA or Dr. Thrush, feel free to email me at getthenet@wi-net.com

      Mike,
Agree. We had our GWP's left CCL repaired 6 weeks ago at Bridger Vet Specialists in Bozeman. Procedure went well. We had the right CCL repaired last Wednesday and so far, so good. Was difficult to justify the expense, but we decided that we had to try the repair. Most difficult issue at this point is keeping a wirehair quiet as he is wanting to be outdoors, etc.

Didn't know Toby had a civil thread on here, but this is a good forum regardless. My dog just tore his ACL and I'm hoping to have the surgery done next week. Sounds like it'll be TPLO being he's about 80lbs.

At a young age I would not even think twice about doing it especially if you have the money to do it. He has a lot more life left in him.

Ask your vet about the TTA, which is a newer type of surgery. I have had 2 of them with my lab who is over 80 pounds, and she is doing very well, the recovery is a slow but steady process, that I assume is the same as the TPLO. I know my vet does the TTA as it has a better success rate, 95 to 90 percent, and the cost was less but he is in Manitoba.
Good luck and hug them often!
