It seems like the last few years it all depends how much commercial netting is going on in the south basin. Last year most nets were further north and therefore fishing was good. The year before that they were all in the south basin and it sucked. How many nets are you guys seeing?

The answer to that question is "too many"

The commercial fishermen are restricted to stay north of a specified line of latitude to help protect those fish that make it to the South basin. It is approximately 5 miles north of the South shore. Don't quote me on the 5.

How was fishing this weekend? Heard it's been really slow.
Have reservations for next weekend but have no problem pulling the plug and waiting.

Just got back from Lake Winnipeg. Fished thurs-Saturday, and it was a grind. Best day was Saturday with 22 fish between 2 of us, and that blew Thursday and Friday out of the water. Biggest fish was just under 28", next biggest was 27", everything after that was 20" or less. First trip that we haven't had at least one master per person. It didn't help that it was -34 Fahrenheit.

Sounds like it is not an option at this time. We are going up the 20th and our guide said to plan to use tracked vehicles.

First trip of 19, and the first hour did not disappoint. She was a little over 11 lbs and 29 1/4 long.

Had to get some repair work done so only got out at noon. My best fish came at the end of the day. An extremely fat 28 inchers that went 10.5 lbs. This place will make anyone look like they know what thier doing, me included. Definitely one of the easiest places to catch a ten pound plus fish that's for sure!

Haha you obviously have not fished for walleye with me, just ask kickemup who has almost kicked me out of his boat on more than one occasion.
