Want to do some spearfishing on Lake Sakakawea which will be my first time. I was thinking of Wolf Creek or Snake creek and was wondering what depth to spear in and any other info? Thanks

I haven't been out yet this year and usually spear on Douglas.

I usually try the back end of the bays, try on the edge of flats that drop down into a channel or deeper water. Big part of it is water clarity.

This year I will be trying out in the bays a little more, and trying a little deeper. Either suspended fish over deep water or trying to find some deeper structure, 20+fow, so sit over. My thought is more pike are deeper chasing the schools of smelt around.

Never fished Sakakawea but I do some spear fishing on small lakes and sloughs. I like around 6-8 FOW on flats or on and edge. Once you find the right depth it is surprising how quickly you’ll get into some fish
