It's too late for this year obviously, but I wished my roofer would have informed me about snow guards when he put my metal roof on (and I had more common sense at the time). I have about 1.5-2ft of snow sitting on top of about 10" solid ice. This is a disaster in the making. Shit ton of ice to come sliding off. It's on the side where I have my driveway and deck too. The other side has already slid off.... I moved the BGE out of the line of fire but my gasser is frozen in. I will have to start parking my pickup further out in the yard until she lets loose.
Anything I can do now to mitigate the damage? I tried to get on the roof this weekend but that ain't happening without a nice fall off the roof. Too slippery. Tried to reach it with my tractor bucket and that was no go. Does anybody know how you can safely get around on metal roofs in the winter?
