Welcome to the area, I don't know the ins and outs of that area specifically but there will be a lot of submerged grass again this year so plenty of habitat for what you are after around lake Sakakawea. Enjoy!

Try out Sak for carp. Ton of big ones out there and a lot of fish in the shallows

Peddle your butt towards Williston and fish the little Muddy when it warms up. Carp galore.

white earth, lunds, new town area all have carp in the back bays, small mouth bass are all through sakawea, you would have to look at the stocking reports to find large mouth in the area, nelson lake is the typical go to large mouth fishery. pike, carp, and small mouth are everywhere. welcome to the show where everyone gets points and nothing matters.

Thanks all. By big mouth and small mouth I meant buffalo fish not bass. Thanks again.

Bit of a hike from Tioga, but the McClusky Canal has some excellent sight fishing opportunities for smallmouth buffs and carp

No doubt there, it's very easy to get around in there and be mobile from shore. Used to be my go to fishery for several years before moving.
