I'd head north and fish the Little Knife Bay area, Beacon Island, and all the points north of the bridge on the east side. Start in about 10-12 ft of water but be sure to venture over into 6-7 ft of water often to find out where they are foraging.

Also check out antelope flats just north of bridge a couple miles on west side. You can always pull boat to van hook

van hook usually gets going early june. but this spring has been anything but normal so if the cold temps stay your best bet would prolly be new town north yet.
FWIW June 7th is the opening day of Van hook classic. so the ramp will be quite a shit show at launch times and check in times but can certainly still fish and its a big lake and plenty of spots to fish without boats on em. the parking lot will be jam packed though but it is every wknd in june. I would follow the reports online and be flexible they will be biting somewhere and newtown gives you a lot of flexibility as far as ramps and areas to cover in close proximity
good luck. heading up to van hook to open up the cabin with the in laws this wknd

I feel like that might still be a bit early for Van Hook. Like jdinny said, this hasn't been a very normal month of May and I wouldn't expect Van Hook to get hot til mid-June. You never know but I would stick to the area west of New Town.
