That was silvers back in 11. Mind you it was only a matter of time since there was nothing to stop them coming upstream. Silvers are the more famous of the two with their tendency to go airborne when startled.

You pretty much forget how ugly they are when your shoulder gets tired of drawing the bow. Cleaning them can be a pain, but not much worse than a Northern, and they are normally pretty big so a guy can waste a lot and still get a pretty sizeable amount of meat per fish. I don't think bowfishing them in the James by LaMoure would be a very effective way of getting them though since it is pretty dirty there

Fried or grilled, are the ways that I had it. Grilled was by far my favorite. It's difficult to explain, but sort of like Walleye it tasted like whatever it was seasoned with. Not "fishy"

You've got me with the ducks and bighead (never tried though), but paddlefish are damn good when properly cleaned and baked/broiled.

Take a 3x3 or 4x4 square of paddlefish filet sans any spec of red/pink meat. Place on a broiler sheet, add a generous tab of butter to the top and season with lemon pepper. Bake at 350 for ~30 minutes, then turn on broiler to sear the top. It's damn good.

I tried it twice. Gross both times and I generally know my way around preparing fish.

Maybe I got bad pieces?
