I've shot accubonds out of my 270 WSM for quite a few years and have been extremely happy with the results. Lots of dead deer, some very dead coyotes and one unlucky beaver.

Who shoots their wife in the crotch?

Answer: Dirty Mike, Dirty Mike does that

I like nosler partitions, accubonds, swift a frames and scirrocos. Who gives a shit about bc shoot a man's gun with a reasonable powder charge. If a little recoil bothers you make the gun heavier or put a brake on it. A 6.5 Creedmoor is nothing more than a necked up 22-250.

I care about BC, a bunch actually.

Will it work? Yes. Would it be my first choice? No. In my opinion, the eldx is a great shooting bullet, but not a great killing bullet. Wife shot a mule deer with the 143eldx right behind the front shoulder, and the bullet fragmented into little slivers. Took two more shots to put him down. I've shot elk and deer with the 178eldx out of my 300wm. Both died, but I found multiple pieces of the bullets under the hide.

Personally, I'd go with a 140 grain barnes ttsx or nosler accubond.

So the ELD-X is a fake renamed A-max?

As I was told by an old elk hunter many years ago, you want something that will turn 25# of meat to pure shit.

There are a awful lot of cartridge/bullet combinations that recoil a bunch more than the 6.5Creed that folks would say are "better" for elk and yet deliver less energy past 300yds.

it.

Facts don’t make for good story though.

I can do that.

I have been shooting a lot of ELD-X and VLD. I go to the Berger VLD when I want to make sure they will open at long range. I tried the ELD-X in my 300 Win mag, but am sticking to the 210 Berger.

I used the 178 gr ELD-X in my 300 WSM for bear in Montana. 20161020_102248.jpg 400 yards, in front shoulder, lodged under skin of left hind quarter.

You can't compare a 22-250 to a 22 creedmoor. If you do then throw in the 22-6MM Ackley or .224 TTH or 22-250 Ackley. Yes it does have a advantage over the 22-250 Ackley. But it will take a back seat to the other two.

While it sits slightly behind those two cats the Creed eliminates all the wildcat work that goes into them. I'm burning a 77 TMK at 3500 and shooting .3's and can buy brass readily available. I'll take that all day!

Our job as sportsmen is to put the game down and make a humane kill.
Boils down to know your gun and ammo, know what you can do with it humanely, and do it to not cause any more pain or suffering to the animal. Do it quick and don't make them suffer.
Shooting an animal that is calm and relaxed is much different than shooting one that is being chased or shot at that has the adrenaline flowing.

6.5 Creedmore will do the trick if you can shoot it properly & know you "limitations". There's a lot of variable when it comes to the mountains. Thermals, canyon whip, elevation compensation for shooting downhill/uphill.

I shoot a 28 Nosler with 195gr Bergers. Elk are amazingly tough critters. The 6.5creedmore will do the trick, but you better bring your tracking boots along!

PS: If you don't think BC matters in bullets & shooting, you should do a little more research...

will it push those 156 in that 3100 range? if so that would be devastating . I think my next gun is a 30 cal in some flavor

It shoots/performs like a wet dream.
195Bergers @ 3155fps (3 shot average)
It's hard to beat this calibers performance at longer ranges

I recently built one as well, pushing 88 ELD's at 3370 with a 26" barrel. Love that gun

I'll be taking the 300 win mag 215 Berger combo elk hunting this year

Barnes 127 LRX would be my choice. That big front shoulder is not going to stop it.
It doesn't have the BC of sleeker jacked bullets, but that isn't going to matter within the range that the 6.5 CM is effective on elk anyway.

Have you gotten that bullet to shoot? That damn thing is my kryptonite!!

If so you wouldn't mind sharing load data would you? :)
