pulled a 4A tag with 4 points! lucky me
that being said I see there is a large piece of BLM down there. that is accessible correct ?

Its all roads ,4’ tall grass and oil traffic . Won’t find a goat on it . Go farther east . Lots of goats south of rhame

This will be my first time hunting in the badlands and I am stoked. Going to give it a try with the bow. Any thoughts on a good location to start would be appreciated.

Is 223 Remington too light for antelope? I'm shooting a 55 grain Jacketed Soft Point at 3240 fps. At 300 yards, it has about 543 foot pounds of energy.

Yep, maybe a tad light at that distance. Everything I read says you should shoot for bare minimum of 750 ft lbs for pronghorn

Not mine apparently. The ND goat that I shot last year took 3 rounds from my 300 win. Hit him a little high the first shot, and he started walking. Second shot hit him right in the pumphouse and he kept walking. I put the third shot in his neck and he finally tipped. That was with 180 grain barnes ttsx.

Can you use an AR15 with a silencer? Any limit on the size of clip?

yeah i agree with the above im counting off the top of my head 13 antelope bucks ive shot and prolly just as many does to say they drop over is not true. they have a will to live like any other animal. brother crushed the heart of a goat literally chunks of it splattered inside and this goat went 100 yards running full bore before it toppled over. 6.5 SAUM was the caliber. I shit canned another one that didnt even flinch when i hit it buddies like dude you fkn missed i said fk man judging by the dirt flying no way. he took off ran full speed literally toppled over 80 yards later. that was with a 7mm 139 gr noslers. ive certainly shit canned plenty dead on impact. remember goats are smallish animals but have larger than avg lungs for their size and youll certainly relize that when you see them go full speed for miles.

A 223 is fine. They'll run just as far with an exploded heart as one with just a small whole, but they'll drop over dead. If you don't want em to run, shoot em in the front shoulder, or the neck.

I used my AR with the last goat tag I had 64 grain nossler bonded at 150 yards , he ran a little ways but the lung cavity was mush , drew my SD tags this year and plan on using it again , we're limited to 5 rounds per magazine I just put in limiters way cheaper than 5 round mags

First goat I shot at about 125 yards with a 22-250 with 55 grains looked like a miss second shot ran a bit then toppled over backward, buddies were excited, thought that I would have to buy at every stop on the way home ( 300) miles but turned out that it had 2 shoots through the heart about 2 inches apart, they thought it was an ass shot, tough critters for sure
