I'm looking at getting a new finder but want to get some opinions first. I'm torn between getting a 7 inch unit or paying the extra money for a bigger say 9 or 10 or 12. When I look at the used market it seems like finders that are 9 or larger hold there vaule a little better than the 7 or smaller. Anybody else think this?

If you use down and side scan 7" is bare minimum. The bigger you go, the clearer the view. Go as nice as you can reasonably afford

Not to say this was the smartest or best way, but i bought the helix7 so i can use it ice fishing as well. It was to small for what i wanted in the summer so i bought another helix 7 so my wife can use that ice fishing and put both in my boat one runs down or side and the other runs map and whatever else i feel like that day. One was new one was used i think i spent 1000 for both.

Just like rifle scopes, value drops like a rock as soon as you walk out the door.

I would use my budget on 2 smaller screens over 1 bigger screen. Once you fish with 2 units, you will never want to go back to one.

I use a helix7 for mapping and some sonar (found it on the walleyecentral classified for $200). I'd like to add a 9 or 10 for SI/DI. I think that would be about perfect without going too crazy.
