Just saw a blurp on fb about a 15lb 15 oz zander caught at spiritwood. Can anyone confirm this awesomeness. Hope gnf doesnt do something stupid and try to eradicate them being it seems we may have another cool little treasure in our own backyard......

I seen pictures of it makes the one my kid caught this year look like a minnow. Congratulations to the angler.

To me the head shape is different as well, longer than a walleye from the gill plates forward.

Zander are not supposed to have the white tip on the tail fin or the amount of white on the bottom fins in general. Interesting. Their top fins are spotted as well.

When is someone going to get smart and put these things in Devils? Seems like a perfect fit to me! Also didnt they abandon the stocking effort because of a disease scare? Id guess they could test this resident population and if there is no disease, use them to start a stocking program in the state?

I think they abonandened it because of numerous issues. One was, our wonderful neighbors to the north were whinning about it getting into their waterways. ;:;banghead

Is it true Spiritwood is the only lake in North America that has these fish?
