I don't think those European models are worth a hill of beans. Seems to me we've seen some high-fetched totals in the past and they're totally blown out of proportions. I think they might get lucky once in awhile, but I take their prognostications with a heaping dose of salt.

When it comes to the models the European has been undoubtedly more accurate over the years to the point Congress got involved to try and improve it so maybe the new version is better. That said everything the GFS is saying today the European said two days ago. The last Euro run put the core up around mcclusky so that is a most definite shift West that the GFS has yet to show so I'll be curious to see how that all works out. Anyone betting on less than 6 in for the core! seems par for the course for storms forecasted to be this big.

...INCREASED RELEASES OUT OF GARRISON DAM...

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has announced a 2000 cubiuc feet
per second increase in discharge from Garrison Dam beginning
today. This will put the total release from Garrison Dam at 48,000
cfs. Downstream areas, such as the Bismarck and Mandan area, will
see an increase of about 0.3 feet in water levels. Missouri River
levels at the Bismarck gage have been between 11.0 and 11.2 feet
as of late and this new discharge suggests river stages may range
as high as 11.5 ft well into the first half of November.

They sure are not in any rush to empty the lake. Seems like that could come back to bite!

The river has been running bank to bank all summer, and is currently only about 1 foot below "action stage". I would imagine these flows this late into fall are near historic levels.

Lake is currently at 1,844' they take it to 1,837' every spring before runoff starts.

Trust me, the Corps is plenty anxious to get Garrison and all the rest of its reservoirs down to where they need to be. Hence kicking it into a slightly higher gear. Last thing they would want to do is be trying to move water like this once we get to ice forming weather. And that will be here before you know it.

With Oahe level down and currently releasing 62k, wondering why COE doesn't open up Garrison a little more. Not making much progress at 47-48k.

You are getting more rain up there? Holy cats man i really do feel sorry for the farmers having to deal with this especially with the good crop that they had.
