My uncle recently passed away and his deer rifle was grandpa's Remington 721 30-06. My cousin from Oregon is coming to ND in a few weeks to get all the firearms. He doesn't shoot one bit, so the 30-06 will sit in a gun case for the next 30 years.

I offered to buy that gun from him for fair market value. Where can I get that appraised? I figured Scheels would be good, but any other suggestions? Online suggestions?

Thanks!

Just search gunbroker.com and average out the prices on there.

wouldn't the problem with that approach be that the asking prices on there being way high and unreasonable. If the actual sales price was available it would be way more appropriate.

$350-$500 would be fair dependent upon condition for just the rifle. Any scope can be priced separately.

Does he know what guns are there? Perhaps dishonest but I lost all my dads guns in a battle with my sisters. If I had been thinking I would have spent some money at pawn shops or Bisman and replaced the same number of guns with what was there, they would not have ever known and I would have his guns.

thats why you average em out. There are so many guns on there that generally speaking an average would be as close to fair market value as one could reasonably hope to find.

Look on BisManOnline, 3 Remington 721 for sale $450-$500, so actually worth $400. They were not that great of a rifle but for memory value priceless to the owner
