2.7 easy to work on , can lift it out with one hand. 3.5 corvette engine in a pickup. 302 is old school good.

Never owned or driven the 2.7. Currently I have a 3.5 and wife has a 5.0 Would never buy another 5.0, better mileage, power and just plain fun from the 3.5.

Less to go wrong on the 5.0, 2.7 has the best mileage, if you tow heavy you prob should go with 3.5 or 5.0

I have a 5.4 in my older ford. Rode with a buddy pulling his boat with an eco-boost. Wow. That motor kicks ass

I strongly suggest going with a 2.7 or 3.5. If you're looking for a gas mileage rig and don't tow very much go with a 2.7. I have a 3.5 and absolutely love it. Decent mileage, extremely fun to drive, and tows like a dream for a 1/2 ton. I wouldn't even think about a 5.0 if I was looking for a different pickup. Just my opinion.

Got the 5.0 in my 2014 F150...has been bullet proof...change the oil every 3,000 miles...80K miles on the truck pull a boat...run gravel almost every day...not a single issue in 5 years...in case you can't hear it...I'm knocking on wood...really loud!

I have the 5.0 in my 2018 F150. My wife’s eco 3.5 in her 2016 Explorer is twice the fun, and pulls way nicer.

I am searching for vehicles as well. I had my head dead set on the 3.5 for the pulling. After researching, and researching I found that most of the supercrew 2.7 l pull about 9,000 compared to most of the supercrew 3.5 pull about 10,700-12,700. I started looking at what standard older 1/2 tons pull and they range from 5,000 to about 10,000 lbs. Anyway, I think the 2.7 would/will fit the mold for most and the 3.5 would pull almost anything a person needs.

i had the 5.0 in my previous pickup, have the 3.5 now.. the 3.5 definetly pulls better, and has lots of "get up and go". i do alot of 60 - 70 mph driving and get right around 20 mpg. im really happy with mine. the salesman told me when I was shopping that if you put it in "sport mode" these things are ridiculous, he wasn't lying.

I have a 2018 3.5 Ecoboost in my Crew Cab F-150. When I pull my Ranger 621 Fisherman I get about 12-13 mpg when not using the cruise control. When I use the cruise control it sucks a little more gas @ 11-12 mpg. The truck is a little light when pulling boat and does vibrate a little at times. Someone told me to add air bags to my rear suspension and this will help while pulling boat (end the vibration). It does not have much problem pulling the boat while using the cruise control but stays in 8th gear almost all the time if your in hilly terrain.

any truth on installing the air bags? Thanks

I have a 3.5 --- i did have turbos stop working on a road trip -- the computer had to think a little and then they came back on --- took it to dealer they said the turbo had to be recalibrated. under warranty

Fuel mileage - is good - not great when not pulling. When you pull the mileage is terrible which is expected.

The issues i have heard about was coolant leaking from the turbos

Try to...oil change and tire rotation every 3k miles. Been a great truck for me so far...lots of miles on gravel every year between boat fishing and ice fishing...60 to 70 times a year.

Never had an issue with my 5.0 except when my water pump went out at 80k, now well over 100k, this truck was not babied either

If you can afford to get the 3.5 might as well, if you barely tow and don’t plan on towing anything heavy in the future then I’d go with the 2.7 if mileage is more important
