I think I paid $850 for a big Reznor heater, but had a buddy help me do the install. They are pretty easy to hang. Most just use threaded rod through some supports that sit on top of the trusses. Just hire someone to come run the gas lines and do the hookup.

If they didn't sell it to you, the plumber won't be there any time soon.

Brother-in-law gave me the hanging furnace. I plumped the garage with black pipe and valves, stubbed in outside the garage. I also hooked the gas to my outside whole house generator. Cenex charged me $950 bucks to tun another line and add two regulators. Distance of about 30 feet.

I put a 40,000 BTU nat gas in my man cave about 6 years ago. I could have spent $1,500 to run my own line or MDU would run it and add another meter for $5 a month for eternity. I chose the $5 a month. The furnace and install only took him 1/2 a day. I ended up getting a Modine Hot Dawg. The whole thing was about $1,600.

Just did a 75,000 at the Angle complete install buried line also. $2000. you should be in the $1500 range in a area that is not so remote.

I purchased the Modine a couple years ago, think it’s 40,000 BTU for an oversized 3 stall. Heats real nice. Keep the garage at 55, unless I am going to be in it for extended hours. Heats it up to 65 in about 30 minutes.
Cost was about $600, being my good buddy has a heating and cooling business, I paid for the heater and parts only.
Its good to know the right people.

The gas line is what can add expense. One company quoted me $700 to run a flex line through an unfinished basement to my garage. I ended up running gas line and electrical myself. Heater guy hooked gas line up on both ends, hung Reznor and vented it for under 2k. Some of the best money you’ll ever spend in this godforsaken land!

Nobody but nobody heated garages when I grew up in '40's, '50's and '60's! Be thankful for lignite surface coal mines and cheap off-peak electricity and for fracking for plentiful natural gas. That is what allows us to heat our garages. The lib-tards would do away with both coal and natural gas and we could heat our garages with wind power when the wind blows or with photo-electric cells on sunny days!

ps: My monthly electric bill for my house in California when I am at Metigoshe in the summer is about the same as my monthly electric bill for the all electric cabin (heat, stove and water heater) at Metigoshe. The electric rate in CA is 4x the NCEC rate at Metigoshe.

Plumbing gas vs compressor air line is the same... (kinda exaggerating) If you can seal a 120-150 PSI airline you can do a gas line yourself.

This of course is in jest... when dealing with a combustible, having an expert is the best case. As JR said, its best to know people.
