Can you hunt east of highway 60? We saw 7 today duck hunting. I have one by the house that is a pest, keeps taking my fence down.

We'll be out again this weekend in the same area in hopes of filling the tag. Let me know if you hear of any moose around. Thank you!

So I am fortunate enough to have a tag this year...even though it is cow/calf. If I am lucky enough to put one down, I am looking for what are some of the best tasting cuts or things to do with a moose. I know the roast are good, but are the steaks tasty? Can a guy even slow smoke moose?

If anyone has some good areas in M9 to hunt, please message me. It would be greatly appreciated. I hope to be out scouting in a couple weeks the Minot to Harvey areas.

I’ve always enjoyed the steaks and roasts from a moose when I’ve had them. I love moose and elk burger when mixed with the right amount of fat content for chili’s and hot dishes and the like

We like the steaks and roasts. Cook slow at medium heat.
Have gotten 4 in my day and would like another one, but that isn't going to happen.

Cuts are all same as beef. I was burned out on roasts as a kid so I just make a handful of roasts out of the top and bottom round. Then pull the backstraps, sirloins, and eye of round as steaks. Only other cut I typically take is the flatiron steaks off each side and cut each into 3-4 slabs for fajita meat. Other than that, the rest is ground into various forms. We buy beef steak maybe once every couple of months and other than that, we haven't had any other beef in probably 6 years. Most of our red meat we eat is moose besides a few other random wild game animals that I shoot over the course of a year. We love moose, my wife especially.

I'm hopping on a plane in about 10 hours to head out on this years hunt! Then my wife has a local cow tag for December. Hopefully we can get two moose this year with plenty extra to share! Best of luck on your hunt.

Good luck to you guys. Pretty envious of the adventures ahead. Not much for hunting tags for me this year, so it will be extra time on the water.
