To all the 243 haters on this site, I have concluded my experiment this morning.
The myth is BUSTED!

The .243 100 gr SP does not...I repeat DOES NOT boucnce of the deer, see picture below.

Try a 243 on a 1/2in piece of steel at maybe 100yds and see if it bounces off, let me know when you get the results

We ran the same experiment today. Same result. One shot, one deer. Must've been a fluke.

My old man has shot a pile of deer with one shot kills with a 243. It’s a great deer caliber. If your a good shot you’ll kill just as many deer as anything else. If your not a good shot by all means don’t use one. Actually probably don’t use anything.

I'm guessing more deer have been killed over the centuries with a .22lr , 25-20 etc than any of the hot new ones.

I shot a striped gopher with a 243, he grabbed my bullet after it bounced off him and whipped it back at me, causing a significant bruise.

5575 that sure looks good!

Thanks guys, pretty proud of her. Due to eye cancer she's lost sight in her one eye, she says she's just glad it's not her shooting eye! Ha ha she still shoots, cuts up and processes all her meat and others, pretty tough gal.

I’ve shot more deer with a mini 14 than all my other guns combined. Put it where it needs to be and they are dead. And a straight four power scope. Oh the horror. Got a 30-06 because I thought I should and now have a 300 win mag. The deer fall over no matter what they are shot with.

Last I checked, deer are not made of steel, not on this planet anyways that I'm aware of.

Hanging self...mmmmm..
Kinda still feel that way after missing that damn wolf Monday. 7th full day sit here up north, after dieing off the past 4 days, the rut his kicked back in some today.
Weather change rolling in has got the does on their feet again after two days of heavy winds. Dead calm today now.
