Lincoln, kinda...
3 deer with 3 shots this year for the kids and I. This may be the first time ever my hunting party all went one and done on shooting.

Theirs were both dropped with a 243. Me, being older, decided to use the 7 mm Rem Mag, just in case my shot placement wasn't as good as theirs. It wasn't.

My brother had an old Remington bolt action 243, and and auto 243. He use the bolt more, and that old bolt has killed more big game than most of you have ever or will ever shoot in your life!

I shot a deer once with a 243, 87 grain. model 88, my brother said he shot it with his 300 Win in a Browning auto. I told him the hole, busted bones, shell going all the way through, blood all over, most of his backbone was gone and such was to big for his rifle so it had to be mine. I am sure of that as I still have the horns to prove it. db

This was back in the 70 and sometimes I question my judgement on that but only for a second or two and then realize I am correct as all you 243 lovers will agree and have convince me of this.

Never heard anyone say “I wish I had a way too small rodent gun” while shooting anything

When I'm sitting in the bow stand and the buck hangs at 85 yrds I've said to myself I wish I had a small varmint gun on me. Many times

Not where I'd like to be
I hope some one bites

Sadly, no takers...

However, my brother just sent me pics of a nice whitetail he "de-cleated" (his words) today with a 95gr VLD out of a 243. I think it's safe to say...

My biggest deer to date was shot with an .243 semi-auto with iron sights. Miss that gun a bunch. Tried to buy it from the guy who borrowed it to me every deer season, and no dice. He is saving it for his grand kids to use.
