Was Everette a trooper in that area back then ? Yes he was. brokenbackjack is right on this line of bad planing for the leo. It should have went down in town when he was walking down the street

Is there reason to believe that LEOs knew that Kahl and friends weren't packing and that any takedown in city limits would actually be peaceful, and not a shootout with shitloads of innocent bystanders?

My bride and I watched Death and Taxes on YouTube , It's worth watching.

BB , My Mom has been in Golden acres for the last few years and wife and I had no clue that the fine dressed lady that we always saw there was Gordons wife, She passed away last month.

The story SL was referring too was the son of the US Marshall who was killed in the shootout, His brain snapped and killed his wife and took his own life.

Plain and simple truth is they wanted to make an example out of him. Do you think the feds want people to actually know they don’t have to pay taxes? From all accounts at the time, they could have peacefully and without incident arrested him pretty much anytime they wanted. They wanted to put on a show and a warning to others who would DARE go against the govt. Kind of backfired cause they got their asses handed to them.

I think your wrong Bacon. If they wanted a show where would that happen in a town or outside a small town in rural Stutsman county. If they were looking for trouble I would think they would have more sense than to only have handguns. I guess I partly agree with you. I can see why they chose the place they did, but if they could have grabbed him at close quarters with no one around maybe no one would have been hurt. Everyone of us has 20/20 hindsight and it's easy to criticize.

I don't like paying taxes anymore than anyone else, but our kids and grandkids go to school. We have roads and snow removal. To be fair I wouldn't complain at all if the liberals didn't spend my money to buy votes with welfare for the lazy, and have free abortions leaving blood on everyone's hands. In this day and age a nation can t survive without taxes. It's a fantasy, and anyone thinks they don't have to they are missing some enacted laws. Besides the lazy on welfare who sits back and contributes nothing while enjoying what others pay for?

Condolences to all involved, and all who knew any one of these men.

It's hard to understand, but a person who is kind to one person and cruel to another is unpredictable. Think of the worst person you know, and there are many who would have kind things to say about them. If this were not true we wouldn't have debated so much about Bundy.

It’s fascinating to hear accounts from people who actually know people involved and not just second hand lore. Never had heard of “notch baby” before looked it up and interesting stuff.

You keep claiming LEO only had hand guns - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Kahl - granted this is wikipedia but unless you can show something to contradict it this is what we have to go on.

There is some debate over who fired first, but the US Marshals Service claims that Yorie Kahl, Gordon Kahl's son, fired the first shot at Cheshire from behind a telephone pole. The shot struck Cheshire in the chest, fatally wounding him. Yorie then fired a second shot at Medina police officer Bradley Kapp but missed. Kapp returned fire with a shotgun and fired four times at Yorie, seriously wounding him in the chest and face. As Kapp turned from the downed Yorie, Gordon fired at least one round through the windshield of Kapp's vehicle, wounding Kapp in the forehead with glass fragments. As Kapp fell behind his car door, Gordon fired two or three more times, and a round struck and shattered Kapp's body armor. The fatally wounded Cheshire managed to fire off three rounds from his AR-15, all of which missed. Meanwhile, Scott Faul, taking cover in the nearby woods, fired at least seven rounds at Kapp and Cheshire's vehicle. One of Faul's shots hit the already wounded Cheshire a second time, and a bullet blew off Kapp's index finger. A third shot hit the pavement, and a piece of asphalt struck marshal Hopson in the ear, causing Hopson to suffer permanent brain damage. Wounded and out of ammunition, Kapp retreated to a ditch, but was unable to reload his shotgun due to the wound in his hand. With Kapp down, Gordon turned to face US Marshal Kenneth Muir and Medina police officer Steve Schnabel, just as Muir fired off one round from a .38 caliber revolver. Muir's shot hit the already wounded Yorie Kahl square in the chest, but the bullet struck a revolver Yorie wore on a shoulder holster, and therefore did not enter his heart. Before Muir could fire another shot, Kahl fired one round from his rifle at Muir, killing the marshal with a shot to the chest. Schnabel tried to return fire with his shotgun, but Gordon fired three more rounds at the officer as he tried to aim his weapon. One shot ricocheted, striking Schnabel in the back of the leg. The wounded Schnabel retreated to the side of the road and took cover in a ditch. The entire firefight lasted about 30 seconds.

" If they wanted a show where would that happen in a town or outside a small "

It hard to portray the story line you want if there are witnesses to contradict the version of events you are claiming.

I believe Darrell Graf, was the major cause of the shoot out. He called Dr. Martians office 3 times telling Gordan about what law enforcement was planning. A person will never get the truth out of him. I have seen him many times thru out the yrs and he always had a NYFD ( New York fire dept ) or a LACFD ( Los Angeles County fire dept ) pretending he is a member of these organizations.

He stirred the pot in Medina and tried to profit from it with his book that had fabricated facts in it.

I think some of the notch babies endured some significant mental anguish , My Mom is the most mild mannered person you could meet , She has never complained about anything EXCEPT that the government didn't give her what she rightfully earned and deserved.

Keep in mind the notch babies worked their fingers to the bone in the dirty 30s as teenagers in full survival mode and couldn't afford so much as a new pair of shoes. Many of them were farmers and they experienced some wonderful years in the 50s and 60s and early 70s then another disaster came looking them in the eye, Poor crops and low grain prices with 18% interest rate made for an Instant flash back of another long row to hoe, Then Uncle sam said bend over and take this.

I think Uncle Sam really gave off bad vibes to those involved and especially those who gave it their all to served in WW2 , I had an uncle the same age as Gordon that saw a lot in WW2 and his way of thinking was in line with Gordons but he had better judgement where to draw that line in the sand. He absolutely hated the government farm checks that they tried to get him to take. They didn't want anything they didn't earn or deserve but they did want what they though they had coming.

PG You need to watch Death and Taxes, It tells both sides of the story not just the US Marshalls side. There's a lot more to this story than what you seem to realize. I'm not sticking up for Gordon for not filing his tax returns but it's interesting to look back on how this all played out.

Death & Taxes - Long but interesting video. Something that sticks in my mind is when marshal Hopson slammed his shotgun on the roof of the car ( around the 1 hr in the video ) at that point any loud noise could and I think did escalate the situation and started the shooting.

You have to live around the Posse types to understand them. That thought process is a lot more than not paying taxes. Christian Identity Movement. Mudpeople. Oh, don't forget the Jews. Jewery is everywhere. The banking system is a plot. The Holocaust was fake. You can borrow money but you don't have to pay it back. Laws are non-binding if you didn't agree to them. Laws are for foolish people. Babies are chipped at birth so the big bad government can track them. Parts of the US Constitution are illegal. The Posse is just innocent sweethearts. True blue patriots. Tigerton Dells headquarters where they flew the flag of the United States upside down.

Kahl was convicted and served time on a Federal felony. Then he decided he could pack guns even though he was a felon. WTF did he expect? He had a warrant issued on him. Not about taxes but on a parole violation. Kahl alone was responsible for his outcome. At any time he could have walked in like a man and gave himself up and settled it with a slap on the wrist. Instead he murdered LEO people in plain sight.
Right after the Medina fiasco the local Posse boys here thought they should form a militia. A militia. So a half dozen band together. Oops, they all bought different caliber ammo and guns. They met in a garage and were going to hold maneuvers. All generals and no indians. Too cold outside so they all went home. Posse.

I use to work with two brothers that belong to the posse, they were paranoid all the time. The government was watching them all the time and had there phone tapped. Everyone was wrong and they were right. Couple pieces of posse garbage.

One thing I think we learned from Waco, Ruby Ridge, and the Kahl incident and can all agree on: non-violent felons who possess firearms should definitely be cornered by government agents and executed. If there’s one thing that keeps me awake at night it’s the thought that my next door neighbor might be a tax cheat while owning a gun.

Are you sure they were wrong

everyone laughed at Trump when he said his phone was tapped during the election.

Was David Koresh or Randy Weaver felons prior to the raids? I can't find anything

Was Gordon call a felon? https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/7203 I believe he was convicted of a willful violation but not sure

In the case of any person with respect to whom there is a failure to pay any estimated tax, this section shall not apply to such person with respect to such failure if there is no addition to tax under section 6654 or 6655 with respect to such failure. In the case of a willful violation of any provision of section 6050I, the first sentence of this section shall be applied by substituting “felony” for “misdemeanor” and “5 years” for “1 year”.

If you ask someone if America will ever become a communist nation they will reply hell no. If you ask someone if America will ever become socialist, they aren't as sure.

Socialism isn't downtrodden masses rising up against exploiting bosses. Downtrodden masses don't have the money or organization to pull off a revolution or this slow rollover into the ditch. The super rich have the money and do support socialism. Bernie Sanders and Elisabeth Warren claim they are going to make corporations pay their fair share. Fools.....the money is hidden in Foundations. The middle class is going to pay. The super rich own both horses in a two horse race.

Gordan Kahl read a lot. Maybe this:

http://www.amarilloteaparty.net/uploads/none-dare-call-it-conspiracy.pdf

None Dare Call it Conspiracy by Gary Allen circa 1971

There are so many names of royal families and elites in there it is hard to get your head around all the events and timelines which created the banking world we have today.

Tried to download from the link, crashed my computer... where is my damn tin foil hat? Is there a way to read this without making it onto "the man"s list? Doh, probably too late for that

Worm,

when I click on the link it comes right up. I think the whole book is on that web-link. The Nixon era is a little long winded.

PrairieGhost should read it. Defines very well what a liberal "is" and "isn't."
