So going to have a new lab puppy in april has any one trained there dog to find sheds along with being a good bird hunter. The sheds would be cool but if it messes with the hunting I would not bother.

Totally unrelated but I’m on my third lab...get some “yuck” spray. It has worked wonders stopping my new lab from chewing things I don’t want destroyed. I never heard of it until a few weeks ago.

As for the sheds, no dog I’ve ever owned has found one but they sure love carrying around the ones I’ve found. I always hoped that would transfer over to a good shed hunter but no dice so far. Good luck! Labs are awesome!

I picked up this fur ball two weeks ago. I had forgotten what a hand full a pup is.
I will try the horn training with this guy as well as bird chasing.

Was able to train my current lab real easy for that spring sport. Just make sure you got the tick spray or lotion.

FYI guyz with bird dogs,my 7 yr old retriever started having seizures this week, one bad Grand Maul, blood test revealed "arsenic" my boy is a house/bird dog i have acerage so no dog park, only thing new this week for food was these dog treats which Ive bought for my boyz for many years, well after cracking a fresh bag open whammo down he went then couple days later gave him half a treat as he was moochin bang went down again so I'm a little slow here but the light came on ...possible the treats are laced.so vet sent them to lab for testing should know for certain next week so beware if you have these in your area, damn pic won't down load of the bag company name is "sportmix" dog treats, like milk bones

indiana,so the bag says....If my suspicions come true this company will have a battle on they're hands as I put down a 18 month retriever due to major grand maul seizures daily and one before him was 10yrs with liver failier all fed these treats other litter mates were fine like now
