I believe Myres' Meats of Garrison and Parshall does it also.

You better be prepared to 1/4 it yourself. It’s hot during that season and this butchers can only hold about 15 moose.

Just buy a freezer and a good knife sharpener, once you do a moose or an elk you'll wonder why the hell anyone pays someone else to do shit you can do yourself. Butchering is pretty easy stuff and it's fun with a blue or silver box.

Lincoln, kinda...
The ex had her elk done at Valley Meats back in 2011. No muss, no fuss. I don't recall there being anything special about the finished product, so neither good or bad things to say at all about the service other than they were there when we needed it on a fairly warm day. I do a lot of my own, but there's times it's just nice to not have to deal with it other than firing up the grill.

Any butcher will be expensive($1,000) The weather will ditermine if you can do it yourself in your garage. It will probably be too warm outside to try age meat hanging in your garage.

Could also use a window air conditioner in garage if weather is too warm .

I've heard that big plastic totes and some dry ice will keep quarters cool while you whittle away at it if you're interested in doing it yourself.

It's not that hard to butcher yourself especially if all your gonna do is make burger. However they are a big animal so if you don't have room or if you want to properly age it then you might want to consider taking it to a butcher. I aged and butchered a moose and it wasn't difficult.

$1000 to process a moose? Must be making a lot of pepper sticks and summer sausage. Those are where the costs get high. Just to butcher into steaks, roasts and burger should not be that high. It will pay to look around some and get some estimates. Congrats on the tag and good luck.

P.S. Personally, I think moose is the best eating wild game in the deer, moose, elk category.

I took one of the biggest bodied bull moose the biologist had ever seen, shot between ribs no bone hit, to valley meats got 200 lbs of burger and 30 lbs of steak back for $950.

Here is an example of what you could\should possibly get for meat.

An average moose in this country weighs 900 to 1000 lbs on the hoof which results in somewhere between 300 to 400 lbs of boneless meat.
