Either the "rona" has me missing my days as they all seem to blur together anymore or open water is coming quite quickly with this wind we have been dealing with. The lake is in great shape already! I have floated my Yar-Craft 209TFX on the big lake already this season. The biggest hinderance is ice in the bays blocking access to the main lake. Wind in the forecast the next 3-4 days, all west or north in nature will really help move things along, just too bad it isnt 50deg temps instead of 30 blowing with it!

And as always, my "east end" home will be the last to go! Help me pray for a hard east wind one of these days!!!

B...thinking about running to New Town Friday...put in at the casino ramp and head south. Guessing this week quite a bit more ice will move thru the system.

Anyone willing to disclose if any smaller lakes are open. Alkaline in particular. I'd rather not make a 2hour drive to find out its still iced in

SE North Dakota lakes are still pretty much iced over. You can cast the long rod by culverts but that's about it.

This imagery is from the 9th, as it was the only clear enough day, but it looks like Alk is still iced over. Vollmer has some great links in the resources tab at the top, on the left hand side scroll down to the bottom to the "up to date satellite imagery" and click the worldview link. You can adjust the date at the bottom of the link to find days where we arent all clouded over!

Ashtabula is still pretty much iced over. Northern are in the inflow streams and river though.

Negative ghost rider, these north and west winds are keeping all of the ice pushed to this end. According to the Satellite imagery for yesterday there looks to be a pretty massive hole opening up in the ice in the area between Ft Stevenson and the Dam.

You can launch a boat in DeTrobriand Marina at Ft Stevenson and play around a "little"
You Can launch a boat in the North Arm of Douglas Bay and play around a "little less"
Van Hook is virtually ice free

Bout all I got, ive been busy the last few nights so haven't gotten out and about at all. Maybe tonight if I don't go float the boat.

Sitting at my cabin watching the ice on Douglas bay go quickly. Wind and temp today is eating it up pretty fast. By next weekend it ought to be ice free everywhere, or at least darn close.

Looks like Beaver Bay on Oahe was open on the 10th at least. Anyone seen if any of the ramps are usable? I assume they are.
