Does anyone know when sauger typically spawn. Today I caught a 16" sauger on the midsection of lake Sakakawea around the Beulah Bay area. When I filleted the fish it was still loaded up with eggs. I caught another sauger off the same shallow (less than 10ft) rocky point that did not have any eggs. Water temp was around 68 degrees. Apologies but I did not take any pictures.

Right, that is why there is such a thing as a saugeye, There are fish every year that do not lay their eggs as Mother Nature designed them to do. They eventually just absorb them.

Some do it because of injury, others???
