A fishery biologist up on sak one day a couple of years ago told me the fish caught on the lake each year didn't account for 1% of the population in the lake. I thought that was pretty amazing.

Depends. Are the big fish still around but just not biting as good or did they all get caught? The Casino weights show there are still big fish in the system. Did most of the big fish stay in the river?

That’s the best fishing I have seen in 20 years on Sak so maybe it’s declining back to normal.

Similar thing happened last year for a good part of the year. Big fish were hard to find then it just opened up and you started catching them again.

Couple weekends ago I fished all over the arm as well as south to independence. I saw no baitfish clouds at all in the arm. Saw nothing until I was down in the river. We need three good days of hard southeast winds to light the arm up. The weights for the casino tourney tell you the big fish are in the river where the baitfish are at. You just have to locate em.

The data has been posted. Fishermen harvests vs lake population and more. In lakes the size of Sak there's just no evidence that fishermen have any affect. But the minute bigger fish seem to dissappear, the armchair biologists come out of the woodwork.
