First weekend was ok but got beat to our primary field on the first day. Birds seemed to be grouped in bigger groups which made decoying better than years past. There were also very few fields harvested so if you found a harvested field it probably had birds in it. Second day I found an marginal field and the birds came in good but my shooting was rusty after I got a double right away in the morning. Not sure how that happens!

Location
ND's Flatter Half
Took my kiddo out Friday afternoon and found plenty of geese, however they were all in bare dirt fields, most of which were either very muddy, or posted, or both. Plus the crop of mosquitoes out there darn near tried carrying away the pickup, so we decided it was better to wait a bit for things to dry out.

Instead, me and the missus got a giant landscaping project 90 percent complete, which means my honey-do list is way shorter. I'd rather burn a weekend on that stuff now than in October.
