Short, narrow, and empty/low trailers are FN near impossible.

Put ur hand at the bottom of the steering wheel and turn it the way u want the trailer to go, not an end all by god's sake but sure gets ya started out in the right direction off the bat (especially in that crunch while 20 people are watching ya)

And as far as the ratchet strap goes, most ppl struggle with the feeding part when it's new out of the box.. Bend that baby half way over, stick it thru and bring it back to ya.. If ya struggle with the actual use of it, God be with u (slip knots are good for the over access of 1-2 feet if needed..)

One more thing I must add after this last weekend is I FINALLY smoked a deer on the hwy after 3.6 decades of driving A LOT, always carry a dremel or sawzall in all vehicles..it will save your tires, the side of your vehicle's paint, possible radiator damage, the need to have someone holding on to plastic out of the window by their absolute finger tips, etc etc..

Ok, one more thing... For all you oldtimers out there familiar with actual physical ice cube cube trays, people that load them 1/4, 1/3, or even 1/2 ways suck!

Suck it John Tesh...

When to use WD-40 so when your 10 year old ratchet straps start acting like a 40 year old handy man jack they don't make you bleed.

I got enough of that shit and ended up whooping my old mans ass when I was a teenager but I have never spanked my kids. They turned out 10 times better than me. Verbal communication early and often works too.

When using ratchet straps make sure you get at least 3 wraps around the ratchet cylinder and that will hold the strap tight. If you don't get 3+ wraps they sometimed work loose. Always close the ratchet handle too when you are done tightening.
Many many years of pulling trailers and hauling loads with thousands of different items. Took some head scratching sometimes to tie down a load.

I ratchet loads down 4-5 times a day on a trailer throughout the summer. I’m basically an expert. Lol.

and I back a 53’ van trailer up to a loading dock 2-3 times a day as well. The semi tractor has a sleeper. So I’m basically an expert when it comes to backing too.

my boat trailer has those fiberglass poles on the sides which aren’t necessary but sure are nice. I back down the ramp faster than most people drive forward. Haha

ive taught my 4,6 and 7 year old kids how to back a trailer up with a little kids atv. So you guys that suck at backing up should stay away from the boat ramps. Hahaha

With all that said there is no way in hell im backing up a Nh3 tank more than 3’. That’s damn near impossible. I know one guy who can do it. He’s a legend.

No offense to the ones that can't back up a trailer but i was taught at a very young age being raised on a farm and ranch. We often had to back up the 4 wheel trailers with the front steering too. That took some concentration but got darn good at it. Did the same with my bride and kids and i used to offer my young kids to back up someones trailer if that person couldn't do it. Man they would just shake their head when my son or daughter would climb in that persons rig and back up their trailer for them. Didn't matter if it was a stick shift or not. Made a man proud!
My kids and i also learned to drive a stick shift first at a very young age.
Now i just snicker to myself when i see it.

I have one in the boat and every truck glove box. Wife even has one in her purse. Can't wear one in a casino. They must think your going to fix the machines so you can win or cut someone up that did win. LB

Carried mine into the Devils Lake Casino all the time when we would go up there to eat when we lived on the farm.
Carry it in the Casino down here too and never had a problem.

anyone still use, and carry a leatherman?

I carry one everyday on the farm. I call it my sidearm. You’d be surprised how many times I reach for that thing on a daily basis!

Not to go off on a rant here but people need to know how to drive their vehicle when they are in close proximity to a semi. It’s amazing to me how many people do incredibly stupid things in front of a semi.

You name it and I’ve had people do it. I think it should be mandatory that during driver’s ed you should have to ride in a semi for a day....

Have one in the door of my pickup. Traded pickups last week, and the Leatherman (also, the flashlight) were the first things to go into the "new" truck.

On the ratchet straps: If using the 4" wide ones, twist it one turn, before tightening. The twist in the strap will keep it from whipping whatever you're securing, all the way down the road.

Also, roll up the tag end, and duct tape it to the main strap, or slip it under the main strap, before tightening.

If anyone needs, I can provide photos.
