Our tree options in Western ND are not quite the same.
A blind, or self contained type raised apparatus is more viable.

I have leaned against a fence post during the rifle season and had many a deer come within 15 ft. That was while wearing orange, and smoking weed..

Deer not seeing orange doesn’t surprise me. Them not seeing your shiny black chaps does, though.

I just bought a saddle. Need to get more accustomed to setting it up but seems pretty comfortable
