Got out of the high fence it appears

I Believe the story behind these elk is that a HF operation back in the 90's opened his gates and let them all go and quit his business. That's the story I've pieced together. I co-worker's husband drew a tag two years ago. I guess the white landowners in and around the area have a deal through the tribe and state. But he got a big one that year.

Oh, he paid a pretty penny for that. They have a blind auction for a non resident tag.

Yep, 4 available tags with minimum bids of $5k.

I wonder what the winning bids were this year....

Just learned that there's a whole Hunting the Rock series of videos on Youtube and a FB page. Pretty fun watching when you compare it to all the canned HF hunts.

The elk are cool little compromise between the tribe and state. People with a rez tag can hunt state ground and people with state tags can hunt rez ground.

What is wrong with the ass end on that elk, it looks wrong. Maybe just the camera angle.

The story I heard was it ended up crammed into a really crappy spot. They had to remove the hind quarters to get it out enough to even get a decent picture. Sounds like that's also the reason the guy is covered in blood.
