Have had a few over the years. Eskimo 949I is always my recommendation

I was checking these out after seeing how many guys liked them. Are they insulated? The fabric says it keeps it warm, but I don't think I ever read where they said it was thermal.??

most portables are now thermal. My yukon is old but its half thermal. You just turn up the heat if needed. I think a thread existed where we were talking about the poly tarps --- they were loud but they worked - just turned up the heat.

on a windy day the flapping noise alone from non-insulated shelters is such that I'd gladly cut a check to someone for $200 to make it STOP

buy fully insulated

don't be short

The "I" in 949I stands for... guess what.

drill holes dedicated to ice shavings - don't punch through

you want shavings... not slush

slush is a poor insulator anyway

I have a clam bigfoot 4000 that is decent. I used to have all clam stuff but I have been switching over to otter (my flip-overs are a lodge and a hideout). If I was buying today I would get an otter, second choice would be eskimo. Non-insulated shouldn't even be an option.

My 949i has been a good tent for the price. But my buddies have the big Clams and as long as you have 2 or three guys to help and a big heater, they are pretty darn sweet!
Just don't be this guy!:;:muahaha

I picked up a thermal clam for $120 cheaper than anywhere else off L&M Supply's website a couple years back. Been a great shack for me.

If your determined enough and dumb enough, nothing is impossible. Do you think it is possible he wanted in a darker color inside for spearing or something? Hard to believe someone is dumb enough to set it up inside out.

MAJOR selling point. No rips in the skirting from freezing down.

Early ice = not an option without snow.

I haven’t ripped a skirt yet.
