It's tough to imagine any ND river freezing in 5+ ft above it's mid-winter flow levels, maybe the James did last year. So I would hazard a guess that was a pool on some stream in a faraway locale. It would certainly be a scary deal though.

I have no idea where it happened. It was in Outdoor life back in the mid 70's.

I subscribed back then. Seems to me it was some sort of huge ice build up on a major body of water near shore (Great Lakes or cold ocean water) and he fell thru into some sort of ice cavern and had to walk to shore.

The Honda Pioneer is the best on the market IMO. 6 speed transmission in auto or manual, and best of all NO BELTS!!!

If you really want to catch fish, drill into an old poopy hole.

^^^^^^ When were fishing for salmon off the coast of central CA (SFO to Santa Cruz) and were using anchovies for bait we always sprayed our hands with WD-40 before handling the 'chovies!

Speaking of wd40, I had a can resting on the front frame of my trailer about a week ago. The sudden drop of about 18 inches to the concrete of the can of WD40 for some reason puts a hole in the can like a damn geyser, and nicely coats the trailer, the hitch, the back end of my pickup, and me with a furious mist of dust collecting molecules the likes I have never prior seen.

Was surprised at the amount that came out, almost as much as how fragile the little Chinese made aerosol can would easily fail.

Wait, what six speed tranny? My 2014 Pioneer 700 is only 3.

It'd be awesome to have a few more gears to go through. Damnit...

Oh yeah, and I don't have Guy's coinage, so mine is pretty much stock.
