I remember how important I felt pulling into the little town with my big Fargo attitude, that this little bar in Rhame would be lucky to have me and my money. I was doing them a huge favor bringing my business to them...haha

Amazing how high and mighty one can make themselves feel, gracing a place with some beer money, and maybe a room for a couple nights..

According to your comments SDMF your pulling fish out of 30+ft of water and are either pillaging them or releasing them only to see them float.

Also, you must've did a county audit this summer on the vacancy of all the lodging to know they were booked all summer.

I don't have to fish in 30' of water to know when other folks are. If you've spent any time on the Debul it's plenty easy to know if folks are fishing deep or shallow. There's a well defined old shoreline @ 22'-25' and the deep structure isn't exactly a secret, one can cypher folks fishing many of those from a mile or more.

Walmart, Cenex, Charras and TQ, Proz @ the Cove, Pizza Ranch, AppleBees, DQ, McDonalds, Ace, HOE, Pete's, The Ranch were all as busy as any other summer. Plenty of "Help Wanted" adds on the radio all day-every day, didn't hear or see much for "Going out of Business" signage or advertisements.

I don't go to the Casino and I don't go to Ed's so I can't speak for them. Everyplace else in town was bustling all summer. Campgrounds will be expanded spring of 2021.

I didn't ask for the game and fishes opinion on perch caught through the ice. I wanted to know where people are coming up with the idea that all the fish are being caught out of deep water during late summer. I can state as a fact that a vast majority of the big fish caught during the past AIM tournaments have come from 20fow or less. Yes a few come from deeper but not as many as what is assumed by most.

So according to most its okay for me to go fish during the summer and practice catch and release and thats okay just not on Sundays? I do grow tired of listening to you run off at the mouth based on your opinion and things that you hear as fact.
For any of you to come on here bash a tournament circuit and it's participants that are trying to make a positive change in the sport just blows my mind.

So which fish? All of them that are caught during the summer or just ones caught on tournament days? I'm not saying there isn't fish mortality I just want to know which fish die so I know which ones to keep since you know which ones they are. Can you help me out with that? Is there a certain technique I shouldn't be using because it's more fatal to the fish?
No doesn’t matter if it’s a tourney or not. Fish caught deep should be kept and not released. The thing with tourney fishing is you are sometimes sorting through so many small fish just to get some big ones. By releasing them and not keeping them you could be killing a ton of fish that would otherwise be harvested until one reaches their limit. You don’t know which ones will die and that’s the problem. Honestly the game and fish should make it mandatory to keep fish caught at deep depths and not allow catch and release.

Sawyer,
Because I'm on the Debul 40-50 days/summer.

I didn't see any empty hotels, restaurants, gas stations, bait shops, or bars in Devils Lake last summer despite a significantly reduced tournament schedule. There certainly weren't any fewer boats on the water.

Don't go away mad, just go away.

Could that be from people having nothing else to do because of covid? Perhaps coinciding with the enormous spike in overall outdoor recreation? Those damn statistics....

I would be completely fine with a tourney rule no fishing deeper than 30 foot. It should be a state law then though, Because I want the same rights as anyone else.

Feel like I'm on a hunting site where hunters hate the long distance shooters or a golfing forum where long distance drivers and mini-putters hate the PGA guys. Let bygones be bygones and YES EFF MOSQUITOS most importantly! "Good day?"

I'm glad at least one person understands that most lake/river towns don't need tournaments.

Pay extra to fish with a bunch of folks who'd cheat to win a used toothpick? Ahhhhhh, NO.

In fact, anything that can be done to send those folks to some other body of water, preferably within the borders of WI would be perfect.

'Sconi's and tournament anglers deserve each other.

while your at it ban fishing shallower than 5 ft as those fish are stressed from sun light, should only be able to catch and release from June 1 to June 30. Also you can't release a fish if it has any blood on it and must take a picture of hook placement before releasing fish to ensure it was not hooked deep. When taking picture make sure not to use a flash as that may hurt the fishes eyes. I am sure I am missing somethings so feel free to add to the list. dumb asses. You can't fix everything you disagree with with a regulation.

This is just plain childish. You guys need to take that passion and apply it to something positive instead of spewing the negative garbage you do. The logic being used here is right at the grade school level as well. Stay classy boys!

It's only fair to return the favor of your boat-race wakes.

Again Clay. Your "broad brush strokes" get tiring. You are well beyond the point of sounding like a whining toddler. Not all tourneys on "the debil" are fished deeper than 30 fow. Not all tourney anglers suck. Not all weekend guys are as entitled as you. Not all weekend guys lack skill backing trailers.... I could go on and on. Go lay by your dish.
