Wow. Did they start a controlled burn from the musical stage back towards the existing fire to save those buildings?

Talking with my nephews that were there they started back burns at the theater to meet the oncoming flames. They didn’t anticipate it circling around but they had grass units close by with foam and held it off.

Back burn...that was the term I was looking for.

Thats what I figured.
I bet some pants had a little shit in them before that ordeal was over.

So much history that might have been lost. How would you rebuild much of Medora because so much of it remains as it was from the beginning.Pasture that burned will come back quickly when it rains again. I'm sure the rancher who it seems lost the most is looking for alternative grass and I'm sure all the ranchers, him especially would love to see a nice 2-3 day rain that would replenish the moisture that has been in short supply. Haven't heard of any lost livestock so hoping that is somewhat of a silver lining. Amazing to see the pictures of the fire around the Amphitheater. There is no place in ND that I know of right now where it is safe to have any kind of an outdoor fire.

They used the lagoon to fill the air drop water tanks.

I want to say I heard something about a downed power line starting the fire.

it was over 9000 acres
That was the original estimate but they said 3500 a day later. Unless the USFS changed it again.
my information came from family involved with the fire. You might have a more reliable source. If I’m wrong I’ll have to buy you a case of blue num nums to make up for the false information
