I would say old telecom cable marker, we use that format.

SS=Route out of town
330S=Pedestal Number
LP6B = Load Point 6B
156N = Township

I bet if you dug around the base you would find some old copper cables cut off.

I believe you are correct Bauer especially when worm said there was any sign on top kind of like this picture shows, what was puzzling was the steel pin adjacent to the post. Thumbs Up

Or perhaps one of these signs

The doodad above the sign is the remains of a smaller sign, the portion remaining is the same fiberglass looking material as the other sign. don't mind the wood crap on the back corner, bird feeder.

I see - that doodad must have been the remains of the "Cable Route" arrow like in lunk's example.

Would removal of this post cause issues?
Thinking the post must have stood for this long, probably should let it complete its journey.

Is a Pedestal another name for a junction box ? Were these abandoned when Fiber optics were plowed in ? WW , Is or was there another building near by that might have had telephone ? Sorry for all the questions but no mystery is completely solved until all the questions have been asked.

located on the north edge of my place, which is north edge of a subdivision, not a good reason to have anything down there as it is a significant elevation change to any buildings and river running nearby.

Thanks man. You obviously ignored several day-glow O rings and random carabineers. Bastard.
