i assume you know this. but, the above answer makes me not 100% certain. anyway, catdaddy was referring to the relay not the fuse. different things.

Relay yes. Square box, not flat regular fuse. In the fuse box. There's also one the same size on my Chevy Tahoe that is for lights. I was able to swap them to diagnose. No lights but truck started = bad relay. Saved me a bunch of money for someone to tell me that. Thank you YouTube!

BBJ, sure will. I am at the Angle for a few days so won't worry about it till Wednesday.

Guy, great video. If that is the problem do know if that relay is available easily from an auto parts store?

That will be my first try when I get back.

Cat Daddy, Where did you get the relay and cost???

Starter, starter, starter. Went through the same bs with my 01. Bought a new battery and ignition switch and still did what your describing. Ended up being the starter. I through a fit about the damn money I spent on the other things and they didn’t charge labor for the starter

Possibly a bad spot on your starter's armature ? Where it happens to land on once in a while?

      Guy, will do.

Davey, That is my next move. However with 2 new knees and 74 yo, somewhat over weight. This is not as easy as it was 10 years ago.

Couldn't get a good swing at mine so I had to use a long 1/2 in drive extension. You might get lucky and find a spot from the top side with a hunk of rebar.

Same thing happend to my 01' and 07'. Reach down and wiggle the wires on the starter. Those connectors get loose.

Try 10 lbs of dynamite, that should shake it enough to get things working. Or not.

BBJ, I like it. Back in the 70's I always said that you should get a couple of hand grenades when you get a new snow mobile.

I've got an 18 also. It seems like my starter runs too long before it fires. It's not always consistent. Did a google search a few months back without any good results. Now I'm thinking there might be some issues with that year.
