Eluded to the 99 and Ruger 77 being chambered in .284 but wasn't "sure". Skipped it being available in an A-Bolt, Browning Safari (Sako action) and a Sako proper. Jr. High level research..... And, he completely skipped mentioning the 6.5x284. Swing and a MISS as that configuration has ECLIPSED what the 284 will EVER hope to be.
He is right that ULA/.284Win is the most for the least.
In everything that isn't a NULA, meaning 2.8 vs. 3.1" mag box, I'd feed the belly one less cartridge and PRC to desired bore diameter. Velocity ends up being a push, but, the PRC gives more latitude in the mag-box w/slickery bullets.
I was a frog's-hair away from turning a 5-digit SS Classic M70 Fwt 243Win into essentially the very same config but in .284Win. I spoke to 2 different smith's w/plenty of M70 CRF experience and both told me independently that it's a real bugger to get that rebated rim to feed well in a CRF action. And so I languish away in 284 Hell with but a M100 to scratch the itch.
