I will be working on this winter a load for my 7x57 mauser. I want to make it for deer only and low recoil so my daughter can shoot in a few years. Any suggestions on bullets. I've read a lot on the range of 140ish and 160ish grain bullets but wondering if anyone has tried anything under 140 in a 7mm bullet?

I basically made mine duplicate the 7-08 w/R-15 and 120TSX @ 3050fps. They're very efficient deer killers @ that speed. I suspect you could use them for a whole bunch of other critters as well.

I've not shot them but I've read that 120gn .284 Nosler Ballistic tips have a bit thicker jacket than their heavier counterparts. You could use them backed off to a MV of say 2800fps and I suspect have very light recoil. Ive shot a bunch of Hornady 120gn V-max from the 7-08 and I wouldn't recommend them on a deer, they fragment like crazy.
