Any suggestions? Will be targeting big walleyes. We will be staying at Riverbend.

Best place to buy bait?

Is there an issue with Canada and how they treat the virus? Let me know how that works if there is an issue. db

Kyle at Log Cabin Bait is a good guy to talk to for report and bait. Sometimes live shiners make a difference if you can get them. Later in the year the better for the River.

db,travelers heading to canada need a vaccine card and covid test results 3 days prior to entering canada, wouldn't bother going as fishing/hunting is just as good in our country, but that's MPO.

Fall fishing on the big lake is always good, shallow rocks around pine island is productive, fall rainy lake= massive crappies.strike while we have this great weather.

Another LOW report recently;

On the south end... An incredible week of walleye fishing and it should only get better throughout the month as the water cools. With traditional fall walleye movements around the lake, big numbers of walleyes and saugers are set up along the south shore and anglers are catching a lot of fish.

Most anglers are anchored up and jigging with a fathead or emerald shiner. Live shiners are available and effective. There are still walleyes being caught on spinners with minnows as well as trolling crankbaits.

In addition to walleyes and saugers, pike, jumbo perch and sturgeon are in the mix for walleye anglers.

On the Rainy River... Emerald shiners continue to run in the Rainy River and more and more walleyes are entering the river each week. Fishing has picked up consequently.

Jigging with a minnow, in many cases a frozen or live shiner, is the go to method. Emerald shiners are a favorite native forage for walleyes in this system.

If you do not have the vaccine you can boat into Canada. If you stay on your boat and do not touch land, you can fish. Was just there 3 weeks ago. Launched from Sportsmans, stayed at Oak Island, and spend plenty of time north of the border on the boat.

Best of luck on your trip.

For me, i was wondering how to get to Canada and how to get back with the virus thing.

Three years ago put some cameras up in the northern forest with the idea of going back the next spring. That did not happen and then there was the fire.
Hope to go back soon. db

Snow1,, Read again you can fish, but you can NOT touch land!

Still need a passport and an Ontario fishing license.

INTERESTING, Maybe the canook's told my buddy "No" cause he was on an island, He is a fishing guide on lake saganga, the ontario out post told him he couldn't fish all last summer on the ontario side period but maybe the canadians loosened these restriction's this summer after all tourism is the canadian cash crop.

Fishing on the lake was good. River was too warm. Shiners were there but not alot of walleye. Big fish were 25" & 29". 21181.jpg
