I'm Chief Cook, Bottle Washer, Beer Consumer, and all around Camp Bitch this year. Might even skin, bone out, and package a deer or two while the other guys/gals hunt. Regardless, it should be a great time. Good Luck to everyone hunting and BE SAFE!! We don't want any statistics. Go gett'em guys and then post pics so I can be jealous and call you bad names! Ok Thanks!!

Brother is coming out from the flatlands. Told him EHD already killed his deer. Said he wasn't coming for the deer, he was more interested in summer sausage sandwiches on the tail gate, beers and stew in the evening and shooting at a far away rock when ever he wanted to.

I thought this was going to be a thread about the Remington 760, 6, 7600, BPR, Rem 25, Colt Lightning, and such and so forth.

I only have a mule doe tag so I've been focused on bow hunting I have been practicing with my .357 I've never taken a deer with a pistol so that should be fun.

Setting here with my second cup of folgers and watched a nice buck scoot across the North pasture, right through the cattle. Must be checking his scrape line for a hot doe. Not a lot of hiding places this year with most of corn gone and every blade of grass baled. Dirty fence line might hold deer this season. LB

So, back to the theme of the thread, pump rifles (grin).

Uncle has a Rem 760 in 6MM Rem that shoots so well with 100gn Fed factory ammo that it's somewhat maddening. Bone-stock w/unknown vintage 3-9x40 Leupold. I've tweaked, swapped, adjusted, more tweaks and swaps on bolt-action rifles w/good handloads that can't outshoot it.

Well, I didn't perish during my surgery and I'm sitting behind my blanket and with the wife! Now for a buck to walk by so I can get my field mounting footage.

The new hole looks like it’s for squirrels and geese.

The boy went out, spooked out a couple doe, quartering away, took a poke, we have fresh tenderloin for this evenings meal.
He made it 21 minutes into the season, and tagged out.

He, for the first time ever gutted it himself, and has it hanging in a buddies walk-in cooler, already cooling down for a Sunday butcher day.

Turns out I am no longer needed around the johnr house hold, as the skills I brought to the table are no longer unique., it was a proud day.
