I drove by a bunch of sloughs and a fishing dam today that looked good enough to walk on. Locked up tight.

Lots of small stuff down here locked up rather depressing at least the temps should keep the big water open for a while

Got out on Sakakawea Wednesday afternoon. 2.5in in the bays and less outside of the bays. Managed 4 17-18s on the buckshot. Not a chance I'll walk out again with these temps.

Saw a few fishing Friday when I was pheasant hunting. Not for me, the cattail sloughs are cracking under foot yet. I went through once in deep water years ago and that was enough.

Last week Sunday ice was 2 inches. This morning it measured at 4 inches. Very surprising considering the temps we’ve had. But I’ll take it

The ice was 3-4.5" in the area that I fished on Audubon Friday 11/26. After the heat the last couple days and also in the coming forecast, I'm guessing it'll be a while before I get out again. On the plus side, the fishing was dang good. It was nice to get out.

Didnt seem that long ago that fish would have been bigger than your son. I kind of remember a picture of that somewhere. Congrates to the young fisherman. LB

Oahe at Yates froze over for a few days but now is wide open again. Last year at this time I was launching boat. I am pulling out batteries and getting boats ready for winter now.

Prediction for fishable ice on Oahe...???.. Weeks yet hoping by Christmas we get a cold spell. Water levels will be tricky in this area so IDK how fishing will be. May be a lot of current in main channel so ice may be iffy when by channel, which is where you'll want to fish.

Toward the end of summer the west ramp on Beaver Bay was pulled out. The east ramp was still in but I heard the water levels were sketchy. We started pulling the boat to Langeliers and fished down there. I'm still on the fence whether I make a trip down to ice fish. Since we have a seasonal site down there, that's the only place we fish all summer so it's nice to hit a bunch of different lakes during the winter months.

Yes, and that state line area can have really sketchy ice as well...That damn channel will be iffy no matter how cold it gets. Ask me how I know!

Sounds like north central ND gonna pick up some snow Sat/Sun...5 to 10 inches. Not good for ice production early in the year but we need the precip. Looks like Sun thru Wed temps cold at night - that helps. I'll probably check out the Audubon protected bays next weekend...see how they're doing. As always, early ice and late ice most sketch...take your time, be prepared, and don't go alone if possible. Fish on!

Yeah, overnight lows in the zero range with daytime highs in the teens will make some ice over the coming few days. Everyone be safe out there!
