darn shame we ever created reservations....

In the 1st part of the 20th century, some one in the Gov't modeled them after communist Russia. So claimed a Rancher I worked for that was pretty well read so to speak.

So, its OK to fill the casino hotel rooms for the tournament, but yet not allow any sort of access on the Grand ramp? If I were the Chamber or on the tourney committee, I would simply send a notice to all entrants informing them of the closure and ask them not to support the tribe in any way throughout the year. That might get the fence down quick!

I have no issue with them charging an access fee. But to completely close it makes no sense. Not allowing any parking or access is only going to hurt business at the bay. Lose lose for everyone involved. If its just about retribution for whatever happened, thats pretty weak. But it will come around. I will never spend a dime at the bay again if they block it off.

Outside of casino revenue, where do all of their tribal funds come from?

He works(ed) for Mobridge high school, that’s why they had Mobridge police dep/tribal cops patrolling the tournament. The block in the picture you uploaded. And I can tell you why you see the tribe/casino only doing wrong in your eyes. They finally started capitalizing on their resources, and started to back their own laws/policy’s, etc. sure it does affect everyone, but so does ND/SD or any other government in the country if you want to use their resources via hunting and fishing.

have you not seen the animals coming off reservations?? ND’s second biggest bull comes from a reservation by a nonmember. Multiple giants come from reservations every year.

That is actually not true no one was ever charged with writing the letter. A rumor was it was a person from the school.

the way you made it sound was some one was guilty no charges were filed so its just conjecture at best. For all any one knows it could be a tribal member who doesnt like tourneys.

Bullshit. There are MANY skilled plumbers, electricians, carpenters ect and they teach their young ones superb work ethics
;:;boozer
He asked about tribal income. Do tribes have tribal income tax to get $$$ from the members that have jobs or is the tribes money from the BIA?

It's now on the FRONT PAGE of the Mobridge Tribune

An access point used by anglers to get on to the ice of Lake Oahe has been blocked off by the Standing Rock Tribe.

Access to the Indian Memorial Marina, a popular access point for ice fisherman, is blocked off by a snow fence.
With the Mobridge Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee’s annual ice fishing tournament just weeks away, the blocked access is a concern for the committee.
Mobridge Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tanner Jerome said the issue has recently been discussed by the committee.
“It is a highly used access but there are still other access points to the lake that we are encouraging them (anglers) to use,” he said. “They can cross the Singing Bridge and get access below the (former) Chief Gall Inn. With the low water it could make it easier for them to get to the ice”
Jerome there are other access points, including just west of the U.S. Highway 12 Bridge and the water plant access. He said the committee will discourage any anglers to use a route that takes them across the channel or under the U.S. Highway 12 Bridge, where the current makes the ice conditions less stable. The constant movement of the water through the channel and around the pylons of the bridges on the Missouri River channel, causes constant changes in ice conditions in those areas.
An official with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said the Corps is aware of the situation and is working internally on it.
Attempts to contact officials with the Standing Rock Tribe to find out the reason for the blocked access were not successful.
Further information on this issue will be will be published in upcoming issues.

I find it funny how they say they tried contacting the Tribe, but were not successful. Sounds like the Tribe is doing what it does best....Hiding under their desk.

Why "tribes" keep pulling this type of shit yet keep expecting(and getting) handouts is beyond my thinker.
You can damn near guarantee 95+% of them are for pulling this type of shit even though they don't even know why. (Just follow your "leader".)

No propane, gas, groceries, ect delivered to the red and watch their tune change!

And stay the hell outta their casinos!!!
